Box Score ITHACA – Cornell scored goals in each of the first three quarters to build a 3-0 lead and coasted home to a 3-1 victory over Colgate. It was Colgate's first game in two weeks due to COVID protocol.
The Big Red used a smothering defense that held the Raiders to only two shots on goal. Colgate's lone tally came on a slapshot by
Carter Leahy with 4:53 remaining in the game. Leahy took a feed from
Ella Corbett directly in front of the goal and drilled a bullet to the lower right corner. The goal was the first against Cornell in two games this season.
Colgate mistakes led directly to all three Cornell goals. In the first period Caroline Ramsey scored her second goal of the season on a penalty corner from Natalie Stone and Bridget Mahoney. The Big Red's second score was a penalty shot for Julia Darmo. A penalty corner led to the final Cornell goal as Ramsey blasted a low shot that was deflected on to the stick of Antonia Packard who pushed it by Colgate goalkeeper
Anna Unger.
Cornell had the best of play throughout the contest firing off 13 shots to Colgate's five. Shots on goal were 8-2 for the Big Red and Cornell had 10 penalty corners to just two for the Raiders. Unger made five saves in the Colgate net, while the Cornell keeper made only a single save.
