Colgate Drops Tough Double Overtime Loss

Raiders fall 1-0 to UC Santa Barbara

HAMILTON–The Colgate men's soccer team fell in double overtime to UC Santa Barbara on Friday evening.

In the first half, UC Santa Barbara outshot the Raiders 10-2.

Colgate's best chance came in the last minute of the first half when Bobby Foose nearly scored off a Raider's corner kick.

The Raiders came out strong in the second half. In the 55th minute, Kian Alberto ripped a shot into the bottom left corner that was saved by Gauchos goalkeeper.

The game would remain back-and-forth for much for the second half with the Raiders having multiple chances to pull ahead with shots from Simon Hall Ryan Krueger.

The game headed to overtime where Colgate was unable to create any serious chances as they did not have any shots during extra time.

Six minutes into the second overtime period, UC Santa Barbara scored the game winning goal off a deflection from a save by Nick Gerlach.

Gerlach had eight saves for Colgate.
