CALGARY, Alberta – She's headed to Calgary!
Hockey Canada announced the addition of Jessie Eldridge '19 to its roster for Canada's National Women's Team centralization ahead of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
The team's 29 players and staff members will centralize in Calgary for the 2021-22 season. Eldridge and her teammates will prepare for the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship Aug. 20-31 in Calgary before resuming Olympic training.
The 2021-22 season, pending the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, will include games against the United States as well as potential series against Finland. The full centralization schedule will be announced at a later date.
Canada's final 23-player roster for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games is tentatively scheduled to be unveiled in late December.
The impressive year continues for Eldridge, who was selected as one of 47 players invited by Hockey Canada to participate in the BFL National Women's Team Training Camp in Calgary Jan. 17-20. In June, she was invited to compete in the first-ever Canadian Secret Cup, an all-Canadian showcase featuring stars of the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association.
Eldridge's prolific Colgate women's hockey career features a share or sole possession of 10 different program records, including the most points (163) in school history. She was also the program's first top 10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award for National Player of the Year.
A two-time Colgate Student-Athlete of the Year, Eldridge also excelled off the ice as a three-time ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team honoree.
