Colgate-Boston U Meet in Patriot League Quarterfinals

HAMILTON – Let the madness begin.

It's been close to a year since Colgate and Boston U went toe-to-toe in the 2020 Patriot League championship game. The two teams meet on the same court this Saturday for another chance to advance. Tipoff from Cotterell Court is set for 1 p.m., with ESPN+ providing the live coverage.

Second-seeded Colgate (11-1) opens its postseason run on the heels of a 10-game winning streak, tied with Liberty for the fourth-longest win streak in the country. Four of those wins came against Boston U, including Colgate's last two games of the regular season Feb. 20-21. The Raiders have not played since.

Seventh-seeded Boston U (7-10) comes to Hamilton with a postseason win under its belt. The Terriers beat Lehigh on Wednesday 69-58 in a first round matchup in Boston.

This is the third straight year the two teams have met in the postseason. The Raiders knocked off Boston U 81-69 in the 2018-19 quarterfinals on their way to their first title in 23 years. The Terriers returned the favor with last year's 64-61 championship victory.

The Raiders were once again lauded on the postseason awards list. Jordan Burns headlined Colgate's League-best four honorees with Player of the Year honors. Nelly Cummings (Second team), Tucker Richardson (Third team) and Jeff Woodward (All-Rookie Team) joined Burns on the League recognition.

Saturday's winner advances to play the winner of No. 3 seed Lafayette and No. 6 seed Bucknell in the Patriot League semifinals on Wednesday, March 10.
