LEWISBURG, Pa. -- On a crisp fall night at the home of the Bucknell Bison, the Colgate Raiders fell to Bucknell by a score of 4-2.
During the first quarter, Bucknell forward, Mackenzie Kile netted the first goal of the game with an assist from Mia Fields with 4:16 to remain in the quarter. Bucknell's Lily Nelson followed that up in the second quarter with a high shot that was just out of reach of Colgate's goalie,
Anna Unger, as it sailed in the top right corner of the net with 5:49 remaining before the end of the first half.
Colgate was not going to leave the field before halftime without a response. Off of the second corner of the night for the Raiders, sophomore forward
Ella Corbett powered a shot past the goalie to score her fourth goal of the season. Her assist came from
Lily Schoonmaker on the insertion.
The third quarter saw some strong offensive play by the Raiders but they were unable to score a goal on their third corner opportunity of the game. Defensively they held the Bison not allowing a corner nor allowing any of the four shots to enter the goal from the strong play of Unger.
In the fourth quarter, Colgate continued to dominate offensively garnering three additional corner opportunities from which they capitalized on their fourth of the game. With a strong insertion by
Carter Leahy, and a set from
Sarah Killcommons,
Taylor Casamassa sent the ball into the goal just past the Bison goalie for her third goal of the season.
The game was tied with a little over eleven minutes remaining in this contest. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter, the Bison were given a penalty stroke after a penalty was called on Colgate goalie
Anna Unger, and Mackenzie Kile notched her second goal of the game for Bucknell. With under three minutes to go, the Bison cemented their victory with a goal by Rachael Apa and the assist by Emily Doyle.
Colgate finished the game with six corner opportunities while the Bison only had two which was well under their season average.

Head Coach April Cornell-DeAngelis
"Our team tonight really showed strong mid-field play. We executed our game plan of eliminating Bucknell
's opportunity to earn defensive corners. The team also was very successful with strong offensive corners that yielded two powerful hits to the back of the net. We will be able to take these positive aspects to Towson on Sunday and it will help the team
's performance."
