HAMILTON – A late score by Colgate would not be enough to overcome a three-goal deficit to Boston as the Raiders fell 3-1 on Saturday at Tyler's Field.
The Raiders and Terriers battled for their first conference win of the season during the late morning contest, but Colgate was unable to overcome early first-half goals by the Terriers to clip a tough string of losses.
An aggressive Colgate squad outshot Boston University 11-8 heading into the final quarter, recording seven shots on goal, but were unable to find the net until
Ella Murphy knocked one through with 21 seconds left in the contest. Murphy's second goal of the year was assisted by
Kali Williams and
Carter Leahy.
BU opened scoring in the first quarter with a goal at 8:55 by Ellie McIntyre on an assist from Payton Anderson, before adding a score in the second quarter off the stick of Gianna Pantaleo and an insurance goal in the third by Anderson.
The Raiders ultimately edged the Terriers 12-11 in shots and also recorded 10 corners, but could not take advantage.

Head Coach April Cornell-DeAngelis
"I am really proud of our team's performance today, we had great composure throughout the game. We had really strong attacking opportunities and connected well on offense. What can I say, we out shot and out cornered BU but had some really tough luck. Our team knows what we are capable of and will continue to focus on our execution."
