HAMILTON – Colgate men's and women's rowing opened their seasons this past weekend at the Founders Cup Race hosted by Hamilton College on the Erie Canal.
The format of the regatta was 4x1000m. The first three races were run in time trial fashion and the fourth race was run side by side.
Colgate's women's first and second varsity eight boats took the top spot in each race. The 1v8 came across with a time of 13:40.0, besting Hamilton College by eight seconds for the first place. Ithaca's varsity eight took third with a time of 14:05.0.
The Raiders' second varsity eight also brought home medalist honors with a time of 14:08.0, nearly a minute faster than Ithaca (15:05.0). Hamilton came in third at 15:40.0.
On the men's side, Colgate's varsity eight claimed first place with a time of 11:31.0. Ithaca came next at 12:11.0 and Hamilton was right behind at 12:16.0. The Raiders' second varsity eight boat took second place with a time of 13:02, just behind Ithaca's 12:54 for first place.
