Burns Signs NBA Contract with San Antonio Spurs

Prolific Colgate Career Leads to Professional Opportunity in the NBA

HAMILTON – Jordan Burns '21 has signed an Exhibit 10 professional NBA contract with the San Antonio Spurs, per his agent Daniel Green '06 of Green Sports Management.

A San Antonio native, Burns will be assigned to the Austin Spurs of the NBA G League where he will officially sign his contract Tuesday.

"This means the world to me honestly," Burns said. "Being from San Antonio, this is a team that I was always a fan of as a kid and wanted to play for. It feels great just to have this moment. My family loves the fact that I'm able to stay home and they can come to games. I'm just happy that a lot of people can get to see me play again."

Exhibit 10 Contract
An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year, standard minimum undrafted free agent NBA contract. The team will control Burns' G League rights, and he is eligible for a bonus if he spends at least 60 days with the G-League affiliate.

"To play at the NBA level is every athletes' dream, but to be playing in front of your hometown, your family and your friends is truly a blessing," Green said. "We appreciate the Spurs organization for allowing Jordan the opportunity to fulfill his lifelong dream."

Summer Training
Burns spent six weeks training in one of the elite facilities in Las Vegas, Impact Basketball, with head of player development for Green Sports Management, Taurean Green, who was a two-time national champion point guard at Florida and has more than 10 years of professional basketball experience. Green was recently hired as the player development coach for the Chicago Bulls.

"Jordan has truly been a blessing to work with throughout this summer. He's been working with our head of player development, Taurean Green, who was a two-time national champion at Florida and played in the NBA for three years. Putting those guys together and seeing Jordan's growth has been truly remarkable. He's definitely going to be ready for training camp."

Prolific Colgate Career
Burns capped his prolific Colgate career as the Patriot League Player of the Year in 2021. He graduated as the all-time assists leader (503) and ranks fifth in scoring (1,566), fifth in 3-point field goals made (238), and seventh in steals (145). Burns is the only player in program history to rank in the top 10 in scoring, assists and steals. He is one of four players in Patriot League history to be named the tournament MVP twice in a career (2018-19, 2020-21).

A three-time All-Patriot League pick, Burns helped guide Colgate to two NCAA tournament appearances, two regular season championships, back-to-back 20-win campaigns, and a program-record 25 wins in 2019-20. The Raiders this past season became the first team in conference history to reach four consecutive Patriot League championship games.

"I've learned so many things at Colgate, but the main thing is from Coach Langel's favorite motto to control what you can control," Burns said.

"That's been big for me, especially this summer, because so many different things happened. Obviously things didn't initially go as planned but I was still able to come through in the end and that's a testament to everything I learned at Colgate."

Colgate Connection
Daniel Green '06 is the Founder and CEO of Green Sports Management. He holds more than 10 years of experience in professional sports and is a certified agent with the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), the Federation International Basketball Association (FIBA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Green is a 2006 graduate of Colgate University, where he earned his bachelor's degree and was a member of the Raiders basketball program.

"Daniel continued to support me throughout my Colgate career," Burns said. "Having an agent who went to Colgate, who has been through similar experiences on the campus, and played in the same gym, we had a lot of things in common before we even said 'hello'. I'm grateful that we have an alum like Daniel Green that a lot of other schools probably don't have. It's a blessing."
