Men's Soccer Adds 12 to Class of 2024

Ronning Signs 12 Incoming Freshmen for Fall 2020

HAMILTON – Colgate John W. Beyer Head Men's Soccer Coach Erik Ronning has announced the addition of 12 student-athletes who will be joining the team in the fall of 2020.

"I am very excited to announce the addition of the Class of 2024 to the Colgate Soccer program," said Ronning. "Our staff always works incredibly hard to identify scholar-athletes who will fit in with our success oriented culture, emulate the values we hold dear, help us compete for Patriot League championships and play at the highest level of college soccer. This year is no different.

"Great people, terrific students, and talented players; these young men will contribute greatly to Colgate University and Colgate Men's Soccer. This is a fun, exciting group and I expect many to make immediate contributions on the field, while adding quality depth to our squad. It is a great day for Colgate Soccer."


Listed below are Colgate's 12 newcomers to the class of 2024 in alphabetical order.

Will BugliariWill Bugliari

Midfielder | 6-0 | 155 lbs.

Madison, N.J. | The Pingry School


Before Colgate
 
Bugliari was a two-time All-State selection at The Pingry School, where he helped lead his team to a Skyland Conference Championship and State Finals appearance in 2019. Bugliari amassed 61 points during his high school career behind 18 goals and 25 assists. He competed in four consecutive Somerset County Championships, garnering All-State and All-Conference First Team honors behind 11 goals and 11 assists in his senior campaign on his way to earning a selection to the New Jersey All-Star Game. Bugliari competed on the club circuit for Players Development Academy.

Family: Son of Anthony and Katie Bugliari…has two brothers Anthony and George, and two sisters Claire and Anne…father played professional soccer in New Zealand.

Bugliari on choosing Colgate: "One thing I really noticed during my recruitment process is that when speaking with alumni, Coach Ronning and students, each person spoke about Colgate with immense pride. When I visited, I was able to see that pride on full display and that's something that really appealed to me. The beauty of the campus and the warmth of the community helped me realize what a great fit Colgate is for me."

Brett ChrismanBrett Chrisman

Glencoe, Ill. | Loyola Academy


Before Colgate

Chrisman began his playing career as a member of the Chicago Fire US Soccer Developmental Academy. He led the academy team to a victory over the Costa Rican National team in 2015. Chrisman then joined the FC United Developmental Academy as a member of their U14 team, where he started 80% of their games as a center midfielder and helped lead the team to the top of their division. The Glencoe, Illinois, native continued his career with the FCU DA, where he tallied three goals and provided five assists, while leading the team to the club's first DA playoff appearance. Chrisman has played with Chicago FC United, a member of the USL2, as well as attended multiple U.S. Soccer National Team regional camps.

Family: Son of Howard Chrisman and Amy St.Eve…has two sisters Lauren and Emily.

Chrisman on choosing Colgate: "I chose Colgate because it will challenge me academically and athletically. It is a rare privilege to attend a school that gives you the opportunity to excel in both. When I visited, the coaches, players and staff welcomed me with open arms. They showed me Colgate's culture of competition and mutual support. I knew from that visit that I wanted to join them in Hamilton. I am very excited for my next four years at Colgate!"

Andrew CookeAndrew Cooke
Goalkeeper | 6-3 | 188 lbs.

Bath, Ohio | Revere


Before Colgate
 
Cooke attended Revere High School, where he helped lead his team to an Ohio State runner-up finish in 2018. Cooke joined Internationals DA for his senior season and garnered National Merit Commended Scholar honors. Cooke in 2017 guided his club program, the Kalamazoo Kingdom, to a Michigan State Cup Championship and Super Y League National Championship as a two-time captain. He was named Top Performer among all players from his class at the Super Y National Championship. Cooke also competed in basketball and was a member of National Honor Society.

Cooke on choosing Colgate:
"The academic aspect of Colgate was exactly what I was looking for, while the social and community parts of Colgate were also a very good match for me. I really connected with the soccer coaches and the other faculty around campus when I visited. Overall, the ability to play for a high level soccer program along with high level academics was just a perfect combination."

Danny CoyleDanny Coyle
Goalkeeper | 6-5 | 190 lbs.
Scotch Plains, N.J. | Scotch Plains-Fanwood


Before Colgate
 
A goalkeeper from Scotch Plains, N.J., Coyle helped lead his high school team to the sectional championship twice as an All-Conference selection. Coyle was named a regional Player to Watch in his senior season after hauling in All-State Second Team and All-County First Team honors during his junior campaign. A senior captain, Coyle garnered ECNL Northeast All-Conference distinction on the club circuit for PDA Soccer and was a member of National Honor Society.

Family: Son of Michael and Doreen Coyle…has two brothers Michael and Tommy and two sisters Maddie and Delaney.


Coyle on choosing Colgate:
"When I stepped on campus for the first time for an ID camp, I knew Colgate is where I wanted to be. Great academics, beautiful campus, and a team constantly performing at the top of the Patriot League and competing for titles. I'm excited to have the opportunity to work with these experienced championship coaches and to be a part of the Colgate team."

Aidan DavockAidan Davock
Forward | 6-0 | 150 lbs.
Medway, Mass. | The Rivers School

Before Colgate 
Davock attended The Rivers School in Newton, Massachusetts, where he recorded 149 total points on 62 goals and 25 assists as a forward. He was named a 2019 All-American after netting 27 goals and five assists for 59 points as a senior captain. Davock led the Independent School League (ISL) in scoring in three straight seasons, garnering MVP honors after his senior campaign. He collected All-State accolades in three consecutive years from 2017-2019 and was also tabbed a New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) junior All-Star in 2018. Davock played club soccer for New England Football Club (NEFC).

Family: Son of Jim and Denise Davock…has three brothers Jimmy, Connor, and Trevor.

Davock on choosing Colgate: "Colgate has been dominant in the Patriot League, winning three of the last four titles. They also have made their mark in the NCAA tournament with some deep runs in past years and I want to help continue that success. On my visit to Colgate, I could tell the coaches were very invested in the success of the players on and off the field, which set them apart from other coaches."

Forward | 5-11 | 165 lbs.

Dover, Mass. | Dover-Sherborn

Before Colgate 
Fam attended Dover-Sherborn Regional High School in Dover, Mass., where he compiled 100 points on 40 goals and 20 assists during his career. In a stellar senior campaign, Fam amassed 19 goals and 12 assists for 50 total points to earn Eastern Massachusetts All-Star honors. He was named Team Most Valuable Player as a senior captain in 2019. Fam played club soccer for NEFC, where he led his team to a 2019 National Premier League championship with a team-leading six goals and three assists in five games. Fam garnered Tri-Valley League All-Star honors in 2017 and was an honorable mention in 2016.

Family: Son of Sami Fam and Jan Jurgelon…has two sisters…twin sister Amy and Alli.

"I chose Colgate, because for me it was the perfect balance between top tier academics and athletics. The program has great coaches and has found success recently with multiple Patriot League titles. That is something I wanted to be a part of and it helped make my decision to commit to Colgate an easy one."

West Des Moines, Iowa | Dowling Catholic


Before Colgate
 
Feltz attended Dowling Catholic High School, where he amassed 32 goals and 10 assists in three seasons. As a junior in 2019, Feltz racked up 48 points behind 22 goals and four assists on his way to being named to the All-Iowa Elite Team. A two-time All-Conference selection, Feltz led his team in goals (8), assists (6), and points (22) as a sophomore. He played on the club circuit for Sporting Iowa.

Family: Son of Stephen and Amy Feltz…has three brothers Nick, Nathan, and Patrick.

Colgate offers a high standard of academics and athletics. I wanted to be at a place where I could succeed in both of these areas. The coaches and school staff gave me confidence that attending Colgate would help me reach my goals."

Duncan GreenDuncan Green
Defender | 6-7 | 210 lbs.

Houston, Texas | Strake Jesuit College Preparatory


Before Colgate
 
Green attended Strake Jesuit College Preparatory in Houston, Texas, and played club soccer for Houston FC. A three-year captain, Green was the youngest player to start for Houston FC in USL League 2 competition and captained his team to the UPSL U-23 regional appearances in back-to-back seasons. Green, a 6-7 defender, was a two-time representative of South Texas at the US Southern Regional Olympic Development Camp. Green also was a member of National Honor Society in high school.

Simon HallSimon Hall
Defender | 6-2 | 170 lbs.

Washington, D.C. | Washington Latin Public Charter School


Before Colgate
 
A defender hailing from the nation's capital, Hall recorded seven goals during his career at Washington Latin Public Charter School. He posted one goal in his senior campaign, helping lead his team to a second-place finish in the Development Academy Playoffs in 2019. Hall competed on the club circuit for Bethesda Soccer Club.

Family: Son of Michael Hall and Jane Taylor…has one sister Clare.

I chose Colgate because of the people. When I visited Colgate, I had a long conversation with Coach Ronning about Colgate, life and soccer. It was a clear example of how important people are to Colgate. He was honest and positive about his expectations for his players. He demanded everyone's best. It was refreshing and exciting to hear from someone who wanted to be better every day. I realized that Colgate was beyond ordinary, and that its community and its resources were going to help me succeed."

Webster, N.Y. | Webster Thomas

Before Colgate 
A two-time captain for Empire United Development Academy, Leask produced eight points behind four goals while starting every game during his junior and senior seasons. He appeared in 66 games with 58 starts during his career on the club circuit for Empire United. Leask also played lacrosse in high school and was a member of National Honor Society at Webster Thomas High School.

Family: Son of Dan and Dawn Leask…has two sisters Hannah and McKenna.


Leask on choosing Colgate:
"I have always had a goal to play soccer at the highest collegiate level possible. Coach Ronning's passion for the team  was very appealing to me. I was able to see his vision and picture myself being a part of the team. Colgate's outstanding reputation, small class size and strong alumni network were also important considerations. I was especially impressed with the focus on career development from my first campus visit."

Craig McIlwraithCraig McIlwraith
Midfielder | 5-10 | 145 lbs.

Fayetteville, Ga. | McIntosh

Before Colgate
McIlwraith helped lead McIntosh High School to a Class 5A State Championship in 2019 as an All-Region and All-County selection. He was named to the Top 100 All-America Watch List and racked up four goals and six assists in nine games in 2020. As an attacking midfielder, McIlwraith racked up 41 points behind 13 goals and 15 assists throughout his high school career. McIlwraith played club soccer for Gwinnett Soccer Academy and led his team to an ECNL playoff appearance.

Family: Son of George and Joy McIlwraith…has one brother Ross and a sister Claire. 

McIlwraith on choosing Colgate: "I chose Colgate because it offered both high level academics and athletics. Most importantly, I felt welcomed by the coaches, players, and students when I first visited the university, which made me realize Colgate is the right choice for me."

Justin WeissJustin Weiss
Midfielder | 5-9 | 160 lbs.

Syosset, N.Y. | Syosset

Before Colgate 
Weiss compiled 32 goals in three years playing for the United States Development Academy. He turned in a stellar senior campaign, racking up 14 goals in 11 contests for the USDA. Weiss, attending Syosset High School, also competed for New York Red Bulls Academy, BW Gottschee Academy and Met Oval Academy. He was a member of National Honor Society and also participated for Peer Leaders, TOPSoccer Program, and Model Congress in high school.

Born: Justin Rubin Weiss in Queens, N.Y.
Family: Son of Todd and Victoria Weiss…has one sister Julia.


Weiss on choosing Colgate:
"I knew Colgate was a great place to further my soccer and academic careers. Colgate University is known to be an amazing liberal arts school, where I will receive a great education. In addition to having strong academics, it has a very successful soccer program where I believe I can have a strong impact on the team. The culture Coach Ronning described to me made me feel that Colgate will be the perfect place for me to succeed on and off the field."
