BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Morgan Farrah belted her second home run of the weekend and
Bailey Misken fired seven strong innings, but Colgate fell to Jacksonville 2-1 in the UAB Tournament finale on Sunday.
Jacksonville's two runs came on one swing of the bat, as a two-run home run from Abby Genest gave the Dolphins an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Misken responded with five shutout innings after that, allowing just three hits the rest of the way.
Misken struck out nine and scattered five hits with the two earned runs, but Colgate's offense was stymied by a complete-game effort from Misken's counterpart. Jacksonville pitcher Alyssa Bilodeau gave up two hits and one run over seven innings to earn the win.
Farrah had both Colgate hits, and her second of the day was a leadoff blast to make it a one-run game in the top of the seventh. But the Raiders could not produce another base runner to continue the rally and Jacksonville held on for the 2-1 final score.
BOTTOM LINE
Jacksonville 2, Colgate 1
