Burns, Rayman Tabbed NABC All-District

Duo Helped Lead Raiders to New Heights in 2019-20

HAMILTON – Colgate Men's Basketball junior Jordan Burns and senior Will Rayman added to their lists of postseason awards with NABC All-District honors, announced Monday by the association.

Burns landed District 13 First Team distinction, while Rayman garnered Second Team honors after helping lead the Raiders to new heights once again in 2019-20. Colgate for the third consecutive season set the program record for total wins (25) and won its first outright Patriot League regular season title behind a school-record 14 league victories.

Coming off All-Patriot League First Team honors, Burns ranked eighth in the league in scoring (15.8 ppg) and paced Colgate in assists (4.5 apg). He has reached double figures in scoring in 22 consecutive games, while posting two point-assist double-doubles during that stretch. Burns led the team in scoring in 31 games and finished with eight 20-point performances. He stands third all-time in career assists (418) and has another year to chase Hasan Brown '94 for the most in program history (484).

The San Antonio product was a two-time Patriot League Player of the Week this year and reeled in Lou Henson Mid-Major National Player of the Week honors after pouring in a career-high 40 points in the Legends Classic Subregional Championship at Green Bay (11/26). Burns knocked down six 3-pointers and 23 points in the second half alone against Bucknell on Jan. 20 and was named to the Patriot League All-Tournament Team after scoring 21 points in the championship against Boston University on March 11.

Rayman etched his name all over the Colgate record books with a stellar senior campaign. He was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, leading the league in rebounding (9.0 rpg) and double-doubles (11). Rayman ranks second in school history in scoring (1,836 points), third in rebounding (900 rebounds), and third in 3-point field goals made (249). He goes down as the only player in Colgate history to score 1,800 points and grab 900 rebounds in a career.

The program leader in career games played (134), starts (128), and minutes (4,272), Rayman earned All-League honors in each of his four seasons with the Raiders. He was named the Rookie of the Year in 2017 and followed that up with back-to-back second team terms before hauling in a major award in 2020. Rayman this season posted three 20-point games, including a season-high 27 at Loyola (2/16), and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds in a win at American on Feb. 25.

This marks the third consecutive year the Raiders have been represented on NABC District 13. Rayman garnered second team honors in 2018 and Rapolas Ivanauskas was named to the first team in 2019. This is the first time in program history two Raiders have earned All-District honors in the same season.

Burns and Rayman over the last three years have helped lead Colgate to three straight title game appearances, two regular season championships, and the program's first two 20-win seasons. Colgate in 2020 reached the Patriot League championship behind a 25-9 overall record and 14-4 mark in conference play.
