ROCHESTER, N.Y.—A pair of match wins from
MacKenzie Deeter,
Jordan Williams,
Lauren O'Brien and
Callie Bartimer paced the Colgate Women's Tennis team to an 8-1 win Sunday afternoon over Rochester at the Goergen Athletic Center.
Colgate's dominant day started with doubles play. Deeter teamed with Williams on an 8-4 win, O'Brien joined
Madi Kiani for an 8-5 victory and Bartimer and
Ricki Lane combined on an 8-3 triumph to claim all three team points.
Deeter's impressive day continued in singles play. She lost just three games on the way to a 6-2, 6-1 win at number one.
Williams had some pushback in her match at number two, but she registered a thorough win in the second set for a 7-5, 6-2 final.
O'Brien capped her perfect weekend of tennis at number three. She won her first set, then lost the second, before she put her opponent away in the third with a 10-5 decision.
Kiani also needed a third set in her match at singles, as she fought back in the second set before she dropped a 10-8 outcome in the tiebreaker.
Bartimer also kept her opponent off the board in her number five match. Her perfect first set was nearly followed by a second in her 6-0, 6-1 win.
Nicole Condas finished off a strong showing for the Raiders at number six when she cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
