MARCHING ON
Colgate erased a 12-point second-half deficit to knock off Boston University 81-69 on Thursday night in the Patriot League Quarterfinals at Cotterell Court.
The Raiders advanced to the semifinals for the second straight year behind a season-high 26 points from
Will Rayman, with 21 dropping in the second half.
Rapolas Ivanauskas added 18 points and eight boards, while
Tucker Richardson scored 12 and
Jordan Burns registered 10.
Colgate scored season-high 53 points in the second half after trailing 37-28 at intermission. The Raiders shot a blistering 64 percent from the floor in the second half and held the Terriers to just 39 percent.
Rayman finished 6-of-11 from the field and was 5-of-6 from downtown in the second half to lead the Raider rally in front of a raucous Cotterell crowd.
REVISITING NAVY
Colgate and Navy split the regular-season series. The Raiders dropped their Patriot League opener in Annapolis 72-66 back on Jan 3. Just under two months later, Colgate dropped 17 3-pointers and cruised past the Midshipmen 93-71 on Senior Day.
The Raiders hold a 37-30 advantage in the all-time series, including a 5-2 record against Navy in the Patriot League Tournament. Colgate last met Navy in the tournament in 2015 and came away with a 72-62 victory in Hamilton.
