Brown Scores Four at #18 Army

Raiders Drop 13-8 Patriot League Decision; Cleveland One Goal, Two Assists

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Griffin Brown pocketed four goals against the nation's top scoring defense but No. 18 Army was able to complete a 13-8 victory over Colgate in Patriot League action.

Brown's total marked a season high and he had three in the fourth quarter as the Raiders fought to stay within reach. The junior midfielder is up to 13 goals this season and takes over second place on the team.

Colgate was within 5-4 at halftime before the Black Knights put three on the board in the third quarter and five more in the fourth.

Army scored the game's first two goals but then Nicky Petkevich went back-to-back and Matt Donovan scored in the first minute of the second quarter to put the Raiders in front 3-2. Brown scored for a 4-3 Colgate lead but then Army netted two before the half to take a 5-4 edge into the break.

38857Sam Cleveland's fortunate man-up goal with 11:53 left in the third quarter – the ball squirted free to him right in front of the net – made it a 6-5 Army game. But then the Black Knights scored twice and Colgate was fighting from behind the rest of the way.

Brown knocked down a pair of man-up goals in the fourth. Colgate was 3-of-6 with the extra-man advantage for its best showing this year in that situation.

Petkevich extended his goals streak to seven games with his two tallies Saturday. He and Brian Minicus returned to action after missing Tuesday's game against Hobart with injuries.

Petkevich leads the team with 16 goals.

Cleveland had a goal and two assists. The senior leads the team with 11 assists and 22 points. His career assist total is up to 74 and fifth place in program history. Derek Laub (1990-93) is next on the Raider all-time assist list with 80.

Sean O'Brien led Army with three goals and one assist.
