Colgate Downs Brown, 3-1

Dominant Finish Leads Raiders Past Bears

HAMILTON - It sometimes seems like the ice is tilted in Colgate's favor at Class of 1965 Arena. Tonight was a perfect example, with the Raiders dominating Brown throughout the final two periods.

Five minutes into the opening period, Shelby Wood put Colgate on the board with her first goal of the season.

Brown, not giving up on the search for its first road win, tied the game with only a few minutes remaining before the first intermission. In a period that Colgate had outshot its opponent by fourteen, the Raiders didn't have a lead to show for it.

The second period saw Colgate outshoot Brown 20-15 and take a lead after a Danielle Serdachny just barely pushed one past Calla Isaac for the fifth goal of her freshman campaign.

Colgate took a 2-1 lead into the second break and brought the same energy to the ice for the final period to close out the Bears. Coralie Larose broke through to provide Colgate with an insurance goal in the final five minutes.

Alexa Dobchuk started in the goal for the second time this season and claimed her first victory as a sophomore. The Raider defense didn't ask much of Dobchuk, but the Minnesota native surely got the job done with a lucky thirteen saves.

Colgate improved to 7-5-2 on the year and 2-2-1 in ECAC play.

Bottom Line

  • Colgate 3, Brown 1
