BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Although
Meghan Minturn earned her third goal of the season, the Colgate field hockey program fell to Lehigh in a 2-1 final in the midst of a four-game road stint.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mountain Hawks first got on the board midway through the first half when they generated a shot off a penalty corner. A narrow game with shots on goal at just 2-2, sophomore
Meghan Minturn was able to capitalize off of a quick feed into the circle by
Katie Anderson with a low shot to the goal with just minutes before the end of the half.
In what was looking like a stalemate second half, Colgate's penalty corner was punched out of the Lehigh zone and the Mountain Hawks sped down the field on a breakaway. With another low shot crossing the goal, Lehigh gained a 2-1 lead with just over 7:00 to play in regulation. Despite efforts through the final horn, the Raiders ultimately fell to Lehigh in the 2-1 final.

STATISTICAL STANDOUTS
"Meghan [Minturn] has been a fantastic attacking threat on the striker line. She is a team player and realizes when she should take the shot or create the play for her teammate. That is what our team is all about, being selfless and supporting one another. We played very well today and unfortunately had an unlucky break off an offensive corner that Lehigh was able to capitalize on."
"We will continue to improve in a couple areas this week so that we are our ready for our non conference game this weekend."
UP NEXT
The Raiders continue its four-game road stretch next weekend as they return to non-conference play against Vermont on Friday, Oct. 19, followed by Fairfield on Sunday, Oct. 21. Colgate returns to Tyler's Field for the regular season finale against Rider on Oct. 28.
