HAMILTON – With the Colgate field hockey preseason just 40 days away, the Raiders would like you help you get to know the 13 members of the incoming freshman class a little better before practice begins and the team plays in its first game on August 25 at UMass Lowell.
All 13 players have taken their time to answer a few questions that will let the Colgate community know a little bit more about themselves.
This week, we would like to introduce you to
Josie Cook (New Cumberland, Pennsylvania) and
Meredith Rappaport (Wilton, Connecticut).

Why did you choose Colgate?
I was looking at small liberal arts colleges in the northeast and found Colgate's research opportunities and course options very interesting. Also, on my first visit I noticed many people running and working out around campus. I think it's really unique that about a quarter of Colgate's students are varsity athletes. Every aspect of Colgate matched what I was searching for with an added bonus of getting to play field hockey.
What are you most looking forward to this season?
I'm most excited to meet a group of new friends! For my whole life I've gone to school with the same group of people, so I'm really pumped to make new memories with new friends.
What has been the most important accomplishment to you in your field hockey career?
Winning my conference for the first time in school history!
Who is your role model?
I look up to my mom and dad because they both work hard everyday in order for my siblings and me to get amazing opportunities. I can't thank them enough for being the main reason why I get to continue playing field hockey at Colgate. I also look up to Jamie Dwyer as a field hockey role model.
