Raiders Race Past Canisius For First Dual Meet Win

Three Raiders Earn Two Wins Apiece

HAMILTON – The Colgate women's swimming and diving team picked up its first dual meet win of the season with a big 160-128 win over Canisius Saturday afternoon at Lineberry Natatorium.
 
The Raiders earned 11 event wins to lock up the dual meet victory. Sophomore Kiersten Daly and first-years Beth Caruana and Caroline LaPlante led the way with two wins apiece.

INDIVIDUAL WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Daly finished atop the podium in the 100-yard breaststroke with a clip of 1:07.74. She followed with another first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke thanks to a time of 2:25.55.
  • First-year Beth Caruana kept the Raiders rolling in the 200-yard butterfly as she finished first with a time of 2:09.51. She earned her second first-place finish of the day in the 200-yard backstroke as she finished with a time of 2:09.49.
  • LaPlante continued her strong start to the season, sweeping the boards once again for the third-straight week. She finished first in the 1-meter dive with a score of 264.68 points, before claiming the 3-meter dive with a mark of 276.30.
  • Junior Erica Silverman earned the 1,000-yard freestyle title after touching the wall in 10:45.56.
  • Sophomore Carolyn Silverman grabbed the 100-yard backstroke title with a time of 1:00.76.
  • First-year Emma Klein claimed the 100-yard butterfly title with a time of 59.61.
  • Senior Megan Gallagher earned first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a mark of 54.24.
  • The group of Carolyn Silverman, Daly, Maggie Carney and Maddy Fitzgerald won the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:03.96.
