Corvi Nets Third Goal of Season at Bucknell

Colgate Field Hockey Falls, 4-1, As Krull Moves Closer to 500 Career Saves

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Colgate field hockey first-year forward Michaela Corvi (Newburyport, Massachusetts) tied for the team-lead with her third goal of the season as the Raiders fell to the Bucknell Bison, 4-1, at Graham Field at Holmes Stadium Saturday morning.
 
Corvi's goal tied sophomore Iona MacKillop (Glasgow, Scotland) for the team lead, snapping a four-game scoreless streak. Senior midfielder Caroline Schaefer (Avon, Connecticut) tallied her second assist of the season and tie her career-high for points in a season
 
Senior goalkeeper Maria Krull (Leicester, Massachusetts) continued her impressive play this season, picking up 11 saves in the31483 loss and cross the 100-save mark for the third consecutive season.
 
Both teams were scoreless for much of the first half until Bucknell's Megan Keeney put the Bison on the board with reverse strike off a centering feed from M.C. Evans.
 
The Bison added a second goal with just 22 seconds left before half time as Lexi Quick picked up her fifth goal of the season with a low shot off a penalty corner.
 
Corvi cut the Bison's lead in half just 3:46 into the second half. The Raiders picked up a penalty corner early, and Schaefer fired a bullet off the insert which Corvi tipped in on the back post for her third of the season.
 
Bucknell answered five minutes later as Katie Mannino swatted home the ball off a Sally Olson shot. Evans netted her first goal of the game with 2:46 left in the second half on another corner that snuck past the Bison's stopper but she managed to put home the goal.
 
Evans led all scorers with four points on a goal and two assists Saturday.

The Bison win their third straight game to improve to 6-7 (2-1 Patriot League) while the Raiders drop to 2-10 (0-4 Patriot League) with the loss.

-Krull crossed the 100-save mark for the third straight season with her 11-save effort on Saturday
-Krull is second in the Patriot League with 106 saves this season while her 8.83 saves per game average is first in the league and fourth in the country
-Krull now has 486 saves as she looks to become just the fifth goaltender in program history with 500 career saves
-Corvi is now tied with MacKillop for first on the team with three goals and ranks second on the roster with seven points
-Schaefer picked up her first assist of the season and has now tied her career-high with three points
