Five Raiders Named All-Patriot League

Cosentino and Sotomayor Garner First Team All-League Honors

HAMILTON – Five members of the Colgate women's soccer team have earned All-Patriot League honors, the league announced Monday afternoon. Sophomores Mara Cosentino and Abby Sotomayor picked up first team All-League honors, while classmate Leah Lewis earned second team All-League plaudits. Senior Eliza Doll and first-year Ellis Miller were lauded with third team All-League honors.

Cosentino was named first team All-Patriot League after wrapping up the regular season as Colgate's leading scorer. She finished with 16 points behind six goals and four assists. Twelve of her 16 points came in Patriot League play to help the Raiders secure a quarterfinal home game. The Glastonbury, Conn. native recorded a hat trick and an assist in the Raiders' 4-1 win over Lafayette on Oct. 7 to finish the game with seven points. Cosentino picked up three Patriot League weekly honors this season as she was named Midfielder of the Week on Oct. 16 and Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 9 and Sept. 11. This is the first All-League honor of Cosentino's career.

Sotomayor earns first team All-Patriot League honors for the second-straight season. She finished the regular season tied for the team lead with six goals. The forward added two assists to tally 14 points. Eight of her 14 points came in Patriot League play and three of her goals were game winners.  She collected two Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week awards this season after scoring game-winning goals against Bucknell and Cornell (Oct. 16) and netting two goals at Mississippi State (Sept. 4).

Lewis led a Raider defense that secured six shutouts this season to grab second team All-Patriot League honors. Her strong defensive play helped Colgate blank UMass Lowell, Syracuse, Army, American, Cornell and Holy Cross.  Lewis and the Raider backline helped Colgate out-shoot its opponents 263-185 on the season. The Raiders limited their opponents to 1.11 goals per game in Patriot League play. Lewis collects the first All-League honor of her career.

Doll becomes the 12th four-time All-Patriot League pick in Colgate women's soccer history and the first since Catherine Williams '16. She earned third team All-League honors this season after collecting first team honors as a junior, second team plaudits as a sophomore and third team accolades as a freshman. Doll finished the regular season with six points behind two goals and two assists. The Bethesda, Md. native scored goals in Colgate's league wins over American and Bucknell, and added assists against Boston College and UMass Lowell. Doll was the leader of a Colgate midfield that helped the Raiders out-shoot their opponents 263-185 on the season.

Miller was one of just four league freshmen to earn All-League honors as she picks up third team accolades. The forward finished the regular season tied for third on the team with eight points thanks to four goals. Three of her four goals came in Patriot League play as she scored in games against Lehigh, Bucknell and Navy.  The Dallas, Texas native earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 11 after scoring the game-winning goal in Colgate's 2-1 win over defending America East champion Albany.  Miller saw action in all 17 of Colgate's games, making 14 starts along the way.
 
The Raiders finished the regular season with a 9-6-2 overall record and 5-2-2 mark in Patriot League play. Fourth-seeded Colgate will host fifth-seeded Lehigh Tuesday night in the Patriot League Quarterfinals. Kickoff from Beyer-Small '76 Field is set for 7 p.m. on Halloween Night. The winner advances to Friday's Patriot League Semifinals in Annapolis, Md.
