BOSTON, Mass. – The Colgate field hockey team battled the nationally ranked No. 9 Boston University Terriers to a scoreless draw at halftime before falling to the Terrier by a 9-0 final Saturday afternoon at New Balance Field.
Goalkeeper
Maria Krull (Leicester, Massachusetts) tallied 16 saves against the Terriers, including an impressive 12 saves in the first-half alone. Krull's 16 saves are the second-most she has recorded in a game this season after making 21 saves vs. nationally ranked No. 17 Northwestern last Sunday in Evanston, Illinois.
Molly Klare (Wilmette, Illinois) also shined once again for the Raiders on the defensive end as she picked up her third defensive save of the season and fourth of her career.
With the score tied 0-0 at halftime, it was the second time this season the Raiders had not allowed a first half goal and the first since their win in the opening game of the season against Bryant on August 26.
Boston University's Ally Hammel led all scorers with two goals and two assists while Sara Martineau and Taylor Blood each had one goal and one assist. Madeline McClain led the Terriers with three assists off the bench and Kali Shumock also had two assists.
The Terriers scored their first goal 7:31 into the second half after Hammel fired a centering feed to Allie Doggett to make it 1-0. Already with a 2-0 lead, the Terriers scored four goals in a span of 6:37 midway through the second half to increase their lead to 6-0 over the Raiders. Late in the second half, Boston University added three goals in the final three minutes.
