FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Colgate's
Ryan Skae fired a pair of 2-under-par 68s and stands fifth after 36 holes at The Doc Gimmler.
Skae's two-round total of 136 breaks the previous Colgate individual low of 139 set two seasons ago by
Ryan Allison (Allison's total was 5 under par; Skae is 4 under par). And Colgate's second-round 281 breaks the old team mark of 285 set at last year's Doc Gimmler.
Skae carded nine birdies Saturday at the Bethpage State Park Red Course, tying him for second in the 78-player field. He is playing in just his second collegiate tournament after the Old Tappan, New Jersey, native finished fifth at last week's Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational.
Colgate is ninth as a team at 12-over-par 572. The Raiders scored 10 strokes better – 281 to 291 – in their second round than their first.
Allison stands in a tie for 30th after rounds of 74 and 69,
Andrew Huber is 46th after carding a pair of 73s,
Armando Olivieri III is 60th after rallying from an opening 80 to shoot 71 in the afternoon, and
Quinn McGinley is in 62nd place after matching 76s.
Alejo Soto, playing as an individual, shot 75-73 and is in 51st place.
Rhode Island and Seton Hall are tied for the team lead at 14-under-par 546. Yale (551), Connecticut (552) and Hofstra (566) round out the top five. Seton Hall's Lloyd Jefferson Go is the individual leader at 10-under 130.
Sunday's final round begins for Colgate at 8:20 a.m., with the Raiders playing alongside Harvard and the host St. John's. Live scoring is available
