Former College of Charleston standout named Assistant Coach

HAMILTON – Colgate softball head coach Melissa Finley has announced the addition of Rebecca Mueller as an assistant coach for the 2017 season.

"We are very pleased that Rebecca has chosen to start her coaching career here at Colgate," said Finley. "Rebecca brings with her great leadership qualities, proven consistency, a willingness to learn and a passion for the sport that will be infectious for the team.  I would like to welcome her to our Raider Family and I look forward to having her jump right in and get started!"

Mueller comes to Colgate after a four-year playing career at the College of Charleston where she was a two-time All-CAA pick. The Fair Oaks, Calif. native hit .369 as a senior in 2016 to earn third team NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region honors as well as her team's Offensive Player of the Year award. The centerfielder recorded 66 hits as a senior, the tenth most hits in a single season in College of Charleston history.

Mueller started all four years of her career in both left and center field as she helped lead the College of Charleston to three 35-plus win seasons.

Mueller has been a clinician at a number of softball camps and clinics across the country, organizing drills and learning techniques while instructing elite players. Most recently, Mueller coached Team California, an 18 gold team, over the summer. She ran practices and drills with the athletes and participated in nation-wide tournaments with other national-ranked teams.

"I'm incredibly grateful to be given this opportunity and I couldn't be more excited to be here and be a part of this program," said Mueller. "I have been blessed with amazing coaches throughout my entire softball career who have helped mold me as both a player and a person, and I am looking forward to hopefully being that same type of coach to my own players."

Mueller graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science in May 2016.
