HAMILTON –
Molly Klare (Wilmette, Illinois) and Kayla Robinson (Davis, Calif.) each scored their first goals of the season Thursday night as the Colgate field hockey team fell to the Siena Saints, 4-2.

The Saints (1-1) scored four goals in the second half to take the 4-2 win despite trailing 1-0 at halftime.

Robinson's goal was the first of her career after stepping into a starting midfield role this season. Robinson's first career goal came in just her 15th career game played.

Goaltender Maria Krull (Leicester, Massachusetts) picked up six more saves in the cage for the Raiders despite picking up her second loss of the season.

Robinson gave the Raiders a 1-0 lead with 17:07 left in the first half. She dribbled the ball to the right of the arc where she fired a shot through traffic and was initially stopped by Jaycie St. John but ricocheted off goalkeeper Mary Krumlish. Both players swiped feverishly at the ball but it trickled over the line for the goal.

Siena came out firing in the second half where they scored a pair of goals within a minute of each other with just over 30 minutes left in the second half. Aubrie Bleier redirected a rocket from Ashley Dona to tie the game 1-1 before Danielle DeGroot streaked up the right side to take the lead for good.

Fariyah Omarshah scored her second goal of the season to give the Saints a 3-1 lead with 22:05 to play in the second half. DeGroot dropped off a pass for Omarshah who hesitated as the ball rolled near the top of the arc before firing the shot off the backboard.

Klare brought the Raiders within a goal with 7:15 left in the second half with the Raiders first goal off a penalty corner of the season. Katie Connors (Manhasset, New York) inserted the ball on the left side where it was stopped by Kerry Glenday (Babylon, New York) at the top of the arc. Klare stepped into the shot and lifted it off the back of the net for the goal.

Siena reclaimed its two-goal lead with 2:05 left in the game as Dona picked up a goal of her own where she dribbled the ball up the right win and into the center of the arc before firing a backstrike past Krull.

FROM THE SOURCE
Head Coach Cathy Foto
"I thought there were some really good individual performances; Susan Morefield stood out, Whitney Jones stood out, but we really need to find a way to be more focused and more confident in what we're doing so that when we're having good performances we can link that together. The unforced errors that we created were kind of tough and really just sank us. We'll just have to link more consistency from more people to make a better showing."
