Peebles Matches Career High Versus Mids

Senior Tallies Four Goals in 15-10 Setback at Navy Saturday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Senior Emily Peebles matched her career high with four goals, but Navy used a potent offensive attack to knock off Colgate, 15-10, in Patriot League women's lacrosse action Saturday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

In was a back-and-forth contest in the early going as the teams traded goals through the opening 11 minutes of the game until Navy took advantage of a 6-1 spurt midway through the first half to erase a 4-3 deficit and build a 9-5 cushion.

Colgate responded to the Mids surge, potting three unanswered markers to pull within one, 9-8, less than five minutes into the second half.

That was  as close as the Raiders would get, however, as the Mids regained control of the game by notching five of the next six goals to take its largest lead of the contest, 14-9. The teams traded goals over the remaining 11:17 to determine the final score.

Morgan Young led the Navy attack with four goals while Megan O'Donnell and Katie Gallagher pitched in three goals each. Peebles was one of two Raiders to record multiple goals in the game as Isabel Kreitler chipped in two tallies.

"Our draw controls were huge today. Sarah Bowles and Haley O'Hanlon were phenomenal on the draw today. I couldn't ask more of them. That's why we had a great offensive output today and were able to get those 30 shots as well. Defensively, it definitely was not our game. Our defense has been pretty steady all year. Unfortunately this was not the game for them to take off."
