ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Colgate jumped to an early 2-0 lead but No. 9/10 Navy displayed its first-place credentials in a 16-9 result here Saturday afternoon.
Jack Stebbins netted his first career hat trick for the Raiders, who had their best scoring output in more than a month. Colgate put nine goals on the board but couldn't slow down a Navy offense that scored four goals in each of the four quarters.
Tyler Rigo and
Anthony Abbadessa tallied two goals apiece for the Raiders.
Robby Dunigan made the most of his first career start with a goal just 2½ minutes into the game. The junior added a pair of assists for his first multi-point game.
After Dunigan's opener,
Duncan Hoskinson scored with 10:53 left in the first to extend Colgate's early advantage to 2-0. Navy scored four straight to take a 4-2 lead and then earned the break of the game when Rigo's apparent goal 0.7 seconds before the first-quarter horn was disallowed for a crease violation.
The CBS Sports Network replay didn't back up the call, but the ruling stood.

Navy responded with a three-goal outburst in a 45-second stretch early in the second quarter on its way to an 8-3 halftime advantage. The Raiders never drew closer than five goals the rest of the way.
Navy improved to 6-1 in the Patriot League and 8-2 overall. The Midshipmen travel to Army West Point (5-1) next week with a chance to clinch the regular season title. Army still has a road game remaining against Loyola (5-1).
Colgate wraps up its home season and welcomes Holy Cross for Senior Day next Saturday. Faceoff is noon from Crown Field at Andy Kerr Stadium.

Sam Cleveland pitched in assists.
• Colgate scored twice in the final stanza, with Stebbins and Rigo finding the net. Williams assisted on Stebbins' marker, and then Cleveland helped again as Rigo scored his sixth in the last three games.
