HAMILTON – Tyler Rigo scored twice to continue his late-season surge, but Holy Cross put a damper on Senior Day with a 12-6 decision over Colgate here Saturday.
The Crusaders poured in six goals during the decisive third quarter, turning a 4-3 halftime edge into a 10-5 advantage entering the final period. Holy Cross outshot Colgate 17-6 in the third quarter and 30-12 for the second half to help prevent a Raider comeback.
Rigo scored both of his goals in the second half, giving the senior captain seven goals in his last four games. Rigo for the season is up to fourth on the team with 11 goals scored.
The Raiders had their best game of the season at the faceoff-X, winning 15 of 21 draws.
Collin Orr captured 10 of his 14 chances and
Peter Marchetto five of seven.
Other goals for Colgate went to
Anthony Abbadessa,
Cam Williams,
Peter Donato and
Joe Delaney. Abbadessa added two assists for a three-point game.
The Raiders close out the Patriot League season Friday in a 7 p.m. start at Lafayette. Colgate's final game is May 7 at Syracuse.
