HAMILTON – The Colgate field hockey team traveled south to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania Saturday morning, falling to the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, 6-0, in Patriot League action.
Junior goalkeeper
Maria Krull (Leicester, Massachusetts) continued her solid season in the cage for the Raiders as she made 12 saves on 18 shots, marking her eighth game this season of double-digit saves.
Krull has now made 156 saves in 13 games, leading the nation in both saves and saves per game at 12.00.
Colgate nearly got things started right off the bat as the Raiders had a penalty corner and two shots on goal in the first 1:10 of the game. Lehigh goalkeeper Paige Innarella saved
Susan Morefield's (Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania) first shot of the game just 45 seconds in before the Raiders were awarded a penalty corner. Morefield inserted the ball for the Raiders, and
Whitney Jones (Sudbury, Massachusetts) had her shot turned away by Innarella before
Cady Kopsky (St. Louis, Missouri) had a shot attempt blocked.
Late in the first half, the Raiders again had two shots turned away by Innarella in a matter of minutes as Kopsky and
Remi Filippini (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) each had their shots on goal denied.
The Mountain Hawks scored early and often on Saturday, as Lauren Dice tallied her third goal of the season just 3:28 into the game for the game-winning goal. Six different players scored goals for Lehigh in the win.
Marissa Glatt led the Mountain Hawks with three points on a goal and an assist while Isabel McKeown tallied two assists. Innarella stopped all four shots she faced before giving way to Katie Morris who made one save.
