HAMILTON – Maria Krull had a phenomenal game in the cage once again for the Colgate field hockey team despite falling, 4-0, to the Lafayette Leopards in Patriot League action Saturday afternoon.
Krull recorded nine saves in the conference game, snapping her streak of five consecutive games with at least 10 saves in a game. With those nine saves, Krull continues to lead the nation with 144 saves on the season.
Lafayette scored twice late in the first half to take a 2-0 lead before adding two goals in the second half to secure the win. The Leopards scored their first goal of the game with 6:53 to play in the first half as Di Maio redirected an Ellen Colbourne blast from the right side of the circle to make it 1-0 her first goal of the season. Just under two minutes later, the Leopards doubled their lead on Hunsicker's first goal of the year with 5:07 to play in the half. Colbourne inserted the penalty corner on the left side where Magadan stopped it at the top of the circle. Hunsicker stepped up and fired the shot past Krull for the goal.
Nearly eight minutes into the second half, the Leopards scored their third goal of the game to make it 3-0. Liza Welch dribbled the ball along the end line before shifting a centering feed to Turner in the center of the circle for the one-timer, the third Leopard to score their first goal of the season.

Head Coach Cathy Foto
"The kids showed a lot of heart, they had some really solid minutes in different sections. The struggle is still trying to link good, consistent minutes against a good, strong team. Defensively, I think we did some nice things, again in bunches, and then had some real letdowns and lapses. We worked on a lot this week and we were able to see a lot of that in different spots, but its still about generating goals and scoring more."
