– Junior Katie Stebbins posted nine kills and a .600 attack percentage to lead the Raider attack, but Rutgers spoiled Colgate's home opener with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-20) victory in the Colgate Classic Friday at Cotterell Court.

- With the score tied at 13-all in the first set, Rutgers tallied four straight points to spark an 11-5 spurt that gave the Scarlet Knights a 24-18 advantage.
- Colgate ended the Rutgers run with three straight points to pull with three, 24-21, but the Scarlet Knights used a kill from junior Lauren Cloyd to take the opening frame, 25-21.
- Rutgers once again broke away from Colgate midway through the second set, this time capitalizing on a 12-6 stretch to snap a 13-all deadlock and give the Scarlet Knights a 25-19 victory and a 2-0 margin.
- In a tight third set that included nine ties and three lead changes, Rutgers trailed 11-10 before the Scarlett Knights used five unanswered points to ignite a 9-4 stretch that put them in front, 19-15.
- Colgate responded with four of the next five points to pull within one, 20-19, but Rutgers notched five of the last six points of the set to post a 25-20 victory and sweep the match.

- Newcomer Katie Stansbury led Colgate with 10 kills while Stebbins pitched in nine. Junior Kathleen Harris and rookie Jaelah Hutchison recorded five spikes each.
