Raiders Wrap Up HotelRED Tournament Slate

Junior Kathleen Harris Named to All-Tournament Team as Colgate Wraps up Opening Weekend in Wisconsin

MADISON – Colgate Volleyball completed its appearance in the HotelRED Invitational Saturday with a pair of matches against host Wisconsin and Western Kentucky at the University of Wisconsin Field House.  
 
The Raiders fell in both matches, suffering 3-0 setbacks to both the No. 5 Badgers (25-20, 27-25, 25-8) and the Hilltoppers (25-17, 25-12, 25-15).
 
Junior Kathleen Harris was named to the All-Tournament Team. Harris averaged 2.73 kills and 3.45 digs per frame during the Raiders three matches.

- Following a 25-20 Wisconsin victory in the first set, the two teams engaged in a back-and-forth second frame that featured a total of nine ties and four lead changes.
- With the score tied at 25-all late in the frame, the Badgers used back-to-back kills from Kelli Bates to record the 27-25 victory and take a 2-0 lead.
- Wisconsin carried the momentum into the third frame, rattling off eight unanswered points to build a 13-3 margin midway through the frame on its way to a 25-8 victory and the sweep.

- Western Kentucky never trailed during the first set, racing out to a 10-4 lead before holding off a Colgate rally midway through the frame on its way to a 25-17 win in the opening set.
- The Hilltoppers increased their lead to 2-0 as they cruised to a 25-12 victory in the second frame.
- With the score tied at 10-10 in the third set, Western Kentucky tallied seven unanswered points on its way to a 25-15 victory and the match.

- Harris paced the Raiders with seven kills and 10 digs.
- Rookie Amanda Smith notched five kills and pitched in three total blocks (one solo, two block assists).
- Smith dished out a team-high 18 assists and added six digs.
