HAMILTON –
Colgate saw Navy rally in the final minute to steal a 70-69 decision here Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders held a 12-point lead with one minute and 45 seconds left but could not hold on as the Mids outscored their hosts 13-1 to close out the game and record the come-from-behind victory.

Colgate had a game-high 15-point edge over Navy eight minutes into the second period after Damon Sherman-Newsome drained a 3-pointer.

The Mids would counter and get the lead down to 53-47 midway through the half but the Raiders quickly responded pushing the advantage back to 62-49 with four minutes and 30 seconds remaining in the game.

Austin Tillotson made it a 68-56 ballgame when he converted on a layup with 1:45 left to play. Unfortunately the Mids would use a 13-1 run to end the game and steal the contest away from the Raiders. During that stretch the Mids hit three 3-pointers, including back-to-back makes from Worth Smith.

The Raiders were led by four players in double-digit scoring. Ethan Jacobs recorded a team-high 19 points from 9-of-17 shooting, while Matt McMullen and Sherman-Newsome notched 13 points of their own. Tillotson closed out the Colgate players in double-figures with 10 points.

Luke Roh posted a game-best five assists, which gave him enough to surpass Alvin Reed's '06 mark for career helpers. He now sits in fourth place with 327 assists.

• With Roh's five assists in the game he surpassed Alvin Reed '06 for fourth place all-time with 327 career helpers.

Straight From The Source
• Colgate head coach Matt Langel: (on his overall thoughts from the game) "First and foremost credit to the United States Naval Academy. As you would expect from a team with their discipline, they did not stop playing."

"With all that being said it was a disappointing finish for us. Obviously we've been in a number of close games and for us to not play with the poise, discipline and urgency that you need to in order to close out a game in Patriot League play, it hurts. Our guys will think about it for a little bit but we have no choice but to learn a valuable lesson and find a way to move on."

"We worked so hard to get a significant lead late in the game, 12 points with a 1:45 left and 10 with a 1:20 when they started fouling us, but if you're going to compete for a championship you've got to find way to close out the game. We'll work hard to remedy that and be ready for Wednesday night."
