Raiders Compete In the Bronx

Colgate Drops 84-58 Decision to A-10 Foe Fordham; Rivard Leads Raiders with 11 Points

BRONX, N.Y. – Colgate dropped a tough 84-58 men's basketball decision to Fordham here Tuesday night.

The Raiders are now 1-1 against Atlantic 10 opponents this season. They took the season opener at George Mason before dropping Tuesday's contest to the Rams.

Colgate's Tom Rivard notched a team-best 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Jordan Swopshire and Alex Ramon tallied eight points each, while Jordan Robertson earned seven. On the boards it was first-year Malcolm Regisford who pulled down six rebounds, while senior Austin Tillotson handed out a game-high seven helpers.

Fordham jumped in front early and despite small rallies from the Raiders never looked back. Colgate narrowed an early deficit to two late in the opening period but the hosts answered with 9-0 run, sparked by three 3-pointers in a row, to extended their lead back to a wide margin.

Again the Raiders tried to rally in the second half, getting the advantage down to nine but that would be as close as they would come as the deficit ultimately proved to be too much.

Colgate finished the night shooting a season-low 40.7 percent from the floor, 23.8 percent from downtown and 38.5 percent from the charity stripe.

The Raiders are back in action Saturday at UMBC, marking the third of a stretch of six straight road games. The contest is slated for 1 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at the start.
