Colgate Completes Season Sweep of Bison

Five Raiders Notch Six Kills or More to Lead Colgate to 3-0 Win over Bucknell Monday at Cotterell Court

HAMILTON
– Colgate used a balanced and potent offensive attack to cruise to a 3-0 sweep of visiting Bucknell in Patriot League volleyball action Monday at Cotterell Court.
 
Led by junior Katie Stebbins nine kills, the Raiders had five players finish with six or more spikes in the match. Colgate combined to post a team hitting percentage of .275 (42K-14E-102TA), compared to a (-.050) attack clip for Bucknell, as it completed a sweep of the season series.

- Colgate improved to 7-12 overall and 5-3 in Patriot League play with the win.

Turing Point
- Colgate took control of the match in the early going, rattling off seven straight points to break a 2-2 tie and jump out to a 9-2 margin. Bucknell pulled within four moments later, 14-10, but an 11-2 Raider spurt closed out the frame and gave Colgate a 1-0 lead with a 25-12 victory.
- It was more of the same in the second set for the Raiders, taking a 5-1 lead early before using a pair of lengthy spurts later in the frame to cruise to a 25-14 win and a 2-0 advantage.
-  Holding a 9-6 lead early in the fourth set, Colgate rattled off 10 unanswered points to build a 19-6 cushion. The Raiders maintained a healthy lead the rest of the way, posting a 25-14 triumph to sweep the match.
 
Key Raider Info
- Stebbins led a balanced Raider attack with nine spikes. Junior Kathleen Harris and rookie Jaelah Hutchison chipped in eight kills each while newcomers Katie Stansbury and Amanda Smith added seven and six spikes, respectively.
- Stebbins finished with a team-high .467 (9-2-15) hitting percentage. She was one of four Raiders to turn in an attack rate of .240 or higher for the match.  
- Hutchison tallied a season-high six block assists to highlight a Colgate blocking effort that finished with 12.0 total blocks.
- Senior Jackie Macy dished out 20 assists and sophomore Molly Smith added 14.
- Junior Madison McAndrews tallied a team-high 12 digs. She was the only Raider in double figures, with Stansbury adding nine and Macy finishing with eight.
- Colgate posted a team hitting percentage above .200 for the eighth time this season. The Raiders improved to 7-1 in those matches.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Colgate hit better than .330 in each of the first two sets, combining for a .358 attack clip (32-8-67) in those frames.
- The Raiders turned in a side out percentage of 86.7 percent in the second set, converting on 13-of-15 opportunities.
- Bucknell failed to register a positive hitting percentage in any of the three frames. The Bison's best set offensively came in the second frame, when they were held to a .000 (5-5-36) attack clip.
