Balanced Attack Leads Colgate Past Loyola

Raiders Record Season-High .333 Hitting Percentage to Defeat Greyhounds on Saturday

HAMILTON – Junior Kathleen Harris notched 12 kills and junior Katie Stebbins chipped in 10 to lead Colgate to a 3-1 victory over Loyola (Md.) in Patriot League volleyball action Saturday at Cotterell Court.
 
Harris and Stebbins highlighted a balanced Raiders attack that saw six players pitch in six or more spikes. As a team, Colgate combined for a season-high .333 attack percentage (52K-12E-120TA) during the match.

- After dropping the first set, Colgate responded with a 25-17 victory in the second.
- The Raiders never trailed during the frame, scoring the first three points of the set to grab the lead early and using a 5-0 spurt midway through the frame to build a 13-6 cushion. Colgate maintained at least a four-point margin the rest of the way to secure the seven-point triumph.
- In the third set, Colgate held a 10-9 edge before using a 6-2 spurt to build a 16-11 cushion. The Greyhounds pulled within three on a trio of occasions later in the frame, but the Raiders notched four of the last five points to post a 25-18 win and take a 2-1 lead.
- Colgate carried the momentum into the fourth set, jumping out to a 5-2 lead early. The Raiders pulled away from the Greyhounds midway through the frame, benefitting from a 7-0 spurt to build a commanding 19-8 advantage. Loyola (Md.) responded with seven of the next nine points to pull within six, 21-15, but the Raiders tallied four of the last six points to post a 25-17 victory and take the match.

- Harris reached double figures in kills for the 13th time this season. Harris also pitched in nine digs to end the match just shy of a double-double.
- Stebbins tallied double-digit kills for the fourth time this season.
- Senior Jackie Macy dished out 26 assists and sophomore Molly Smith added 22.
- Junior Madison McAndrews was the lone Colgate player to record double-digit digs, finishing with 15.
