Raiders Compete in Local Tri-Meet

Three Races Against Lehigh, Hamilton Final Prep for Upcoming Dad Vails

Colgate's Varsity 8+ finished third in a very tight race over the weekend in nearby Rome.

ROME, N.Y. –
Colgate competed Saturday in a tri-meet alongside Lehigh and Hamilton. The Raiders finished second in the Varsity Four and third in both the Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight.
 
The Varsity Eight was a tight race throughout, with Lehigh coming out on top with a time of 6 minutes and 52.83 seconds. Hamilton was second in 6:55.91, with Colgate close behind at 6:56.33. The Raiders' crew consisted of coxswain Kelly Tucker, Macy Warren, Sarah Decelle, Susan Blick, Dempsey Wartell, Catherine Walsh, Jordan Ressa, Blaise Desnoes and Susie Meyer.
 
Colgate's Varsity Four (pictured below right) crossed the line in 8:16.05 seconds to just miss the winning time. The Raiders on board were Tucker at coxswain, Georgia Butcher, Emma Schoenberger, Halley Weinreb and Sydney Thompson.
 
Varsity 4+ in Hamilton
Lehigh finished first in that race in 8:13.08, with Hamilton third in 8:34.75.
 
Hamilton captured the Second Varsity Eight in a time of 6:58.87. Lehigh was second at 7:02.59, followed by the Raiders at 7:13.94. The Colgate boat had Amanda Liberman at coxswain, Abby Yosaitis, Joanna Howe, Annie Hines, Sarah Walsh, Laura Genty, Lauren Siano, Caroline Wardlow and Elle Lichter.
 
The Raiders are off this weekend before gathering May 9-10 at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia. The Patriot League Championships are May 16 just outside Worcester, Massachusetts.
