Raiders Open Spring at Murphy Cup

Varsity 8+ Earns Fifth-Place Finish in DI Petite Final; Novice 4+ Finishes Sixth

Colgate's Varsity 8+ finished fifth in the Division I Petite Final during Saturday's Murphy Cup Regatta.

CAMDEN, N.J. –
Colgate began its spring season with some quality competition at the 32nd annual Murphy Cup Regatta.

The Raiders competed in five races, with a highlight being the fifth-place result from the Varsity 8+ in the Division I Petite Final. Colgate posted a time of 8 minutes and 40.51 seconds in the afternoon final after covering the course in 8:25.42 in the earlier heat.

Colgate's crewmembers were Kelly Tucker (coxswain), Susan Blick, Susanna Meyer, Macy Warren, Dempsey Wartell, Catherine Walsh, Jordan Ressa, Blaise Desnoes and Sarah Decelle.

The Raiders also landed a sixth-place result in Novice 4+ (pictured below right) with a time of 10 minutes and 21.33 seconds. The morning heat time for Amanda Liberman (coxswain), Georgia Butcher, Emma Schoenberger, Halley Weinreb and Sydney Thompson was 10:02.97.

Colgate's Junior Varsity 8+ competed as well, with Julia Taibl (coxswain), Abby Yosaitis, Joanna Howe, Annie Hines, Sarah Walsh, Laura Genty, Lauren Siano, Caroline Wardlow and Eleanor Lichter in the boat. Their time of 8 minutes and 29.16 seconds placed fourth in a morning heat.

Colgate's next competition is Saturday in a tri-meet with Holy Cross and Massachusetts. The competition takes place near Worcester, Mass., on Lake Quinsigamond, site of the May 16 Patriot League Championship.
