HAMILTON -
Another overall strong performance from Colgate lifted the Raiders to their second straight victory of the season here Thursday night.

Colgate breezed to a 65-44 win over Binghamton behind four Raiders in double-figures.

Matt McMullen led all scorers with 18 points to match a career-high. Luke Roh added 14 and the Raiders picked up 11 points apiece from Damon Sherman-Newsome and Pat Moore .

Austin Tillotson also set a personal career-high with 10 assists in the game.

Colgate led 26-16 at the break and the strong Raider defense during those first 20 minutes forced Binghamton to match its lowest scoring half of the year.

The 16 points allowed was also Colgate's best defensive half of the season. Prior to Thursday's game the Raiders had held both La Salle and Cornell to 22 points in the opening 20 minutes of play.

The Raiders stayed strong throughout the remainder of the game only allowing 44 points for their best overall defensive game of the season.

Binghamton converted on a layup a little less than six minutes into the game to put the Bearcats ahead 6-5. That would be the last time they would hold the lead, however, as the Raiders rallied for a 19-5 run over the next 10 minutes creating a 13-point margin between the teams. During that span the Raiders forced the Bearcats to turn the ball over six times behind their solid defensive efforts.

Colgate contained its nearby rival for much of the second half and even pushed its advantage to a game-high 27-points, following a made layup from Ethan Jacobs with a minute left in the game.

The Bearcats finished the contest on a 6-0 run but the deficit proved to be too much as the Raiders made it two straight victories.

Colgate head to New Hampshire on Sunday for its next contest at 1 p.m.

Straight From The Source
• Colgate head coach Matt Langel: (on his team pulling away in the second half) "Our defense was definitely our key to victory tonight. Our defense was fine in the first half but really picked up in the second. We got some turnovers and loose balls and even with us using a small lineup at times we were able to figure it out and find a way to make it work."

"On the offensive end, Matty (McMullen) stepped up and made some jump shots and Austin (Tillotson) did a great job of running the team with 10 assists to two turnovers. It was all his doing with him saying "hey lets take a look at this and get this guy here" and then he got his teammates the shots and easy layups."

(on being pleased with his team's overall performance) "I was really proud of the guys who started the game and played the most minutes. Luke Roh was just a really solid, tough guy on the court tonight and it was a rallying point for his teammates."
