HAMILTON —
Colgate once again is participating in "Faceoff for a Cause," a combination of men's lacrosse team scrimmages, youth clinic and fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project.

The event takes place Sunday, Oct. 12, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Siena Turf Field in Loudonville, New York.

Colgate participated last year along with Skidmore, Western New England and the host Saints, helping raise $8,000 for Wounded Warrior Project. This year, six teams – Colgate, Siena, Skidmore, Pace, Union, Western New England – are hoping to raise $15,000 for the nonprofit organization dedicated to serving injured veterans for their lifetime.

"We are so excited to once again be part of 'Faceoff for a Cause' in support of the Wounded Warrior Project," Colgate head coach Mike Murphy said. "Last year's event was awesome. The lacrosse was excellent, and being around the folks associated with WWP is great for our team."

Admission to the games is $5 for adults and free for children ages 12 and under, and all tickets can be purchased on the day of the game at Siena Turf Field. All proceeds from the day are donated to WWP and support a full range of programs and services for this generation of injured veterans and their families.

Additionally, fans can donate to the cause by making an online donation through the "Rally the Troops" page that is linked HERE.

Two Games Apiece
Each of the participating six teams are playing two games, beginning at 8:30 a.m. (schedule below). Colgate takes on Western New England at 1:15 p.m., and then Siena at 4:15. A Wounded Warrior Project alum will address all those in attendance through a special presentation at 1 p.m.

Events start with a free youth clinic beginning at 8 a.m. and sponsored by Trilogy Lacrosse. Participants can sign up for the clinic on the day of the event, or in advance by clicking the online registration link HERE.

Over 50,000 servicemen and women have been injured in recent military conflicts. In addition to the physical wounds, it is estimated as many as 400,000 service members live with the invisible wounds of war including combat-related stress, major depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Another 320,000 are believed to have experienced a traumatic brain injury while on deployment.

WWP's 20 programs and services are uniquely structured to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment and engagement.
