Libutti Scores on Senior Day Versus Bucknell

Raiders Honor Six Playing Final Games on Tyler's Field

HAMILTON – Senior Rebecca Libutti scored her third goal of the season, but Bucknell tallied five unanswered goals to defeat Colgate, 5-1, in Patriot League field hockey action Saturday at Tyler's Field.
 
Libutti scored at the 4:16 mark of the contest to give the Raiders an early 1-0 lead, but the Bison responded with five unanswered goals, including three in the final 15 minutes of the match, to spoil Colgate's senior day festivities.

• Bucknell improved to 5-0 in Patriot League play and 10-4 overall as it secured the top seed for the Patriot League Championship.

How It Happened

• Libutti gave Colgate an early 1-0 lead with a goal at the 4:16 mark of the contest. Libutti tallied her third goal of the season when she fired home a shot from the right side during a penalty corner opportunity. Senior Eliana Brown and sophomore Jessica Gardiner were credited with assists on the play.
• The Bison drew even just a little bit over 10 minutes after Libutti's strike as Amy Mucelli deflected home a feed from Liz Wills with 15:05 elapsed in the opening frame.
• Emma Fitzgerald gave Bucknell a 2-1 lead in the 24th minute. Fitzgerald connected on a shot from the right side of the box that went between the legs of the Raider keeper.
• Wills increased the Bison lead to 3-1 in the 57th minute, putting home a shot from the right side of the circle into the lower left-hand corner of the net.
• Bucknell closed out the scoring with two goals less than two minutes apart in the final 10 minutes of the contest. Kyla Sullivan converted a penalty stroke attempt at the 64:32 mark before Kelsey Mucelli struck with 65:55 on the clock with help from Abby Watson for the final goal of the game.

• Colgate before the game recognized the six seniors playing their final home games on Tyler's Field: Libutti, Brown, Katelyn Francese, Jade Dennett, Giuliana Kafaf and Amanda DiDomizio.

• Libutti scored her third goal of the season to move into third place on the team's scoring chart with eight points (3G/2A).
• Gardiner's assist on the goal by Libutti was her team-leading fifth helper of the season.
• Brown's assist gave her 13 points (5G/3A) and moved her one point behind sophomore Whitney Jones (14 pts) for the team scoring lead.
