HAMILTON – The Colgate Athletics Hall of Honor officially welcomed six new members over the weekend with the induction of its Class of 2013.

This year's inductees represented seven different sports, and they were recognized at several events during Colgate's Homecoming 2013 festivities. The culmination was a Saturday night banquet inside the Hall of Presidents, where Colgate President Jeffrey Herbst was among those paying tribute.

The Class of 2013 consists of Larry Cabrelli '41, who starred for the Raiders in football but also played basketball; Dave Conte '71 from men's ice hockey; team physician Dr. Merrill Miller (pictured below); Elizabeth Montaigne '83 of women's lacrosse and field hockey; Jane Savage (Riley) '78 from women's lacrosse, basketball and field hockey; along with golf's Eli Zackheim '01.

Montaigne was unable to attend and will be recognized at the next induction ceremony.

"It is an honor and privilege to be able to welcome the Class of 2013 to the Hall of Honor," said Victoria M. Chun, Colgate's director of athletics and a 1999 Hall of Honor inductee. "These individuals have truly represented the spirit that is Colgate both academically and athletically.

"They are great role models for our current student-athletes to follow."

This year's class was announced in May. Since that time, Shaun Richard, Colgate's associate athletics director for external operations, has been planning to make this weekend's ceremony the best yet.

"It was a special night for Colgate Athletics and everyone in attendance to welcome the Hall of Honor Class of 2013," Richard said. "We started with a great silent auction, went on to a fantastic dinner and ended with amazing speeches by the honorees.

"A special thank-you goes to the faculty and staff, coaches and student-athletes in attendance. It was great to see people from all over campus there to support this event."
