MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Colgate women's soccer dropped a hard fought 1-0 decision to No. 22-ranked Marquette on Friday night.

'Tonight our team battled hard for 90 minutes against a very good Marquette squad," Colgate head coach Kathy Brawn said. "I am proud of the way everyone handled playing a nationally ranked opponent.

"Brenna Mason was outstanding in goal."

Colgate (4-2) saw Mason tally a career-high seven saves in her second collegiate start. Junior captain Caroline Brawner notched four shots, two of which were on net while Kelsey Hough also added a shot throughout the game.

The Golden Eagles (5-2) saw rookie Morgan Proffitt score her first collegiate goal at the 6:36 mark in the first half. The play originated off an MU corner kick where senior Megan Kelly found the head of Proffitt for the game's lone gone.

After allowing the early goal, the Raiders got back on track battling against their nationally ranked opponent. While MU had the advantage on shots 21-6, the scorecard did not reflect Colgate's performance on the pitch.

The Raiders travel next to DePaul on Sunday for a noon Central time start with the Blue Demons.
