2013-14 Men's Basketball Roster

HAMILTON –
The Colgate men's basketball team and head coach Matt Langel have finalized their four-member recruiting class for the 2013-14 season.

"We are looking forward to having these four student athletes join Colgate University and our basketball team." Langel said. "They are good people, students, and basketball players. We were excited when each chose Colgate. Two of the players will add size and two will help us on the perimeter. We are confident that each will fit in well with our returning players both on and off the court."

The four newcomers join eight returning letterwinners on the Raiders' 14-man roster for the upcoming season. Coach Langel's team returns four seniors, three juniors and one sophomore from the 2012-13 team.

This year's rookies are from four different states including California, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. The Class of 2017 includes John Fenton from Modesto, Calif., Jack Fleming of Tampa, Fla., Wyatt Hagerty of Bethel Park, Pa., and Nathan Harries from Alpharetta, Ga.

"One of the exciting aspects of college basketball is that every year a team takes on a new identity," Langel adds. "Seniors graduate, new players arrive who are not going to fill the same role that the graduating seniors did so things are going to change, the dynamic of the group is going to change.

"We can't wait."

Fenton

Langel on Fenton: "John Fenton is a big guy whose size makes him an immediate post presence when he steps on the court. As we evaluated and recruited John, we really liked his ability to rebound the ball. We believe that will continue over his time in a Colgate uniform."

Fleming

Langel on Fleming: "Jack had a phenomenal senior season leading Tampa Jesuit to a state championship. He's got good size for a perimeter player at 6'5'' and is a very good shooter. His ability to shoot with range makes him a scoring threat and helps stretch the defense which creates opportunities for his teammates."

Hagerty

Langel on Hagerty: "Wyatt Hagerty is another big guy who we are excited about. One of the most intruiging things about Wyatt is that he hasn't played basketball as long as most guys who get to be Division I players. He only started playing during his teenage years, so he hasn't developed bad habits and has a huge upside. His determination and work ethic which allowed him to have success at Bethel Park will serve him well at Colgate."

Harries

Langel on Harries: "Nathan Harries committed to come to Colgate in 2011. He spent the last 2 years on a mission and now is coming to Colgate to pursue his passions to study and play basketball. We are excited to get to know him and work with him as a basketball player. He is a talented perimeter player who can both distribute and score the ball."
