PRINCETON, N.J. –
Colgate rowers participated in the inaugural Collegiate Small Boat Challenge and came away with one second and two third-place finishes.

In the Sunday "E" level doubles final, Colgate finished second and third in a very tight race. Katharine Halle and Sarah Decelle crossed the line in 8 minutes, 21.26 seconds for the second-place slot, followed closely by Catherine Walsh and Susan Blick in 8:21.84.

In the "B" level singles final, Colgate's Macy Warren placed third with a time of 8:37.17. Dempsey Wartell also competed but did not finish because of an equipment malfunction halfway into the race.

Colgate boats advanced to those finals via time trials took place Saturday afternoon due to high winds predicted for Sunday.

In the doubles time trial, Colgate's B boat of Walsh and Blick finished 25th out of 40 competitors with a time of 7:41.62. Colgate's A boat of Decelle and Halle was 28th with a clocking of 7:45.14.

In the singles time trial, Warren placed a strong seventh out of 28 racers with a time of 7:55.27, while Wartell was 10th with a time of 7:45.14.

The event was hosted by the Princeton National Rowing Association.

Colgate's next competition is March 9 at the Murphy Cup.
