RESULTS
HAMILTON – The Colgate women's swimming and diving team made it two wins in a row with a 163-133 win over Canisius on Saturday afternoon.
Colgate swept both relay events and had 10 individual wins. The Raiders were led by
Lindsey Sagasta and
Morgan Cohara with three wins
Flora Hanson added two wins as well.
The Raiders got the meet started with a win in the 200-yard medley relay with the team of Cohara,
Cammie Kirby,
Hannah Fitton and
Sami Wary clocking in at 1:50.26. With the meet coming down to the end, Colgate got a big win in the 400-yard free relay with a time of 3:35.77. Wary, Sagasta and Hanson were joined by
Megan Jex on the relay.
Sagasta won all the freestyle sprint events, starting with the 200-yard free, clocking in at 1:54.87. She followed that with a victory in the 50-yard free with a time of 24.46 seconds and then took home first in the 100-yard free at 53.14 seconds.
Cohara continued her great swimming with three more wins and finished in the top spot in both distance events. She scored a first-place finish in the 1000-yard free, which kicked off the individual portion of the meet. Cohara swam to a 10:41.59 finish. She also took home the 500-yard free title with a time of 5:08.49 and chipped in with a first-place swim in the 100-yard backstroke at 58.64 seconds. She has now won seven events in her last three meets.
Hanson was Colgate's next top swimmer with two wins against the Golden Griffins. She placed first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:08.12 and then followed that up with a win in the 200-yard individual medley at the end of the meet to be a two-time winner on Saturday. She finished with a time of 2:11.53.
The Raiders had a pair of single event winners with Kirby and Jex. Kirby won the 200-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 2:28.11 and ended up a tight second in the 100-yard breast. Jex took home a win in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:00.12 as she continues to swim well in the event.
Colgate has next weekend off for the holiday and is back in the pool on Dec. 7 against Bucknell at Lineberry Natatorium.
