ROME, N.Y. –
Colgate's rowing teams participated in the Bridge to Bridge Regatta last Saturday, winning both Varsity 8+ races to highlight an excellent morning of racing.

On the women's side, Colgate won by a comfortable margin against two boats each from St. Lawrence and Hamilton. The Raider time of 27 minutes and 9.40 seconds was more than 42 seconds clear of St. Lawrence A's finish of 27:53.90. On board for Colgate were Kelly Tucker (coxswain), Macy Warren, Sarah Decelle, Susan Blick, Dempsey Wartell, Catherine Walsh, Annie Hines, Katharine Halle and Caroline Wardlow.

"We were very happy with that result," women's head coach Greg Kruczynski said. "It's not a crew we have had together, so for them to do as well as they did was a very pleasant surprise."

The Raiders also captured the men's race over two St. Lawrence boats and a Hamilton crew, winning in a time of 25:47.67. St. Lawrence's A boat finished in second place nearly a minute behind, posting a time of 26:46.70.

Colgate won the men's small boat race, with the Raiders' double and pair both finishing ahead of Hamilton's double. Winning time for the Colgate double was 28:07.04, with the pair crossing in 29:10.66. In the men's Novice 4+, Colgate finished in 34:35.19, or more than two minutes ahead of St. Lawrence. And Colgate's Novice 8+ finished second to Hamilton. The Raiders' time of 26:52.76 was about 34 seconds behind the winning boat.

The women's team also raced in a pair of intra-squad competitions, in coxed quads and small boats. Competing for the Raiders were: 4x A, Kelly Tucker (coxswain), Catherine Walsh, Dempsey Wartell, Lauren Siano and Caroline Wardlow. 4x B, Julia Taibl (coxswain), Georgia Butcher, Blaise Desnos, Laura Genty and Elle Lichter. 2x A, Sarah Decelle and Katharine Halle. 2x B, Annie Hines and Susan Blick. 1x, Macy Warren.

Both the men's and women's teams are back on the water Oct. 26 at the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
