HAMILTON, N.Y. (8/1/12) – Head coach Matt Langel and the Colgate men's basketball program have announced the hiring of Mike Jordan as an assistant coach for the Raiders.

Jordan comes to Colgate after an extensive professional career around the world, where he played in nine different countries from 2000 to 2011. He was a two-time champion and all star in the German Bundesliga, while also being named an all star in the Italian A1 league.

In addition to his duties as a professional, Jordan was a youth basketball coach in Germany, training and coaching ages 8-18. He organized elite training sessions for his players and assisted in organizing and working out high school and college players.

Prior to his professional career, Jordan was a three-time first team All-Ivy selection for Pennsylvania and a teammate of Langel's with the Quakers. The two helped Penn win two Ivy League titles in 1999 and 2000. Jordan garnered a pair of individual honors during his career as he was named Ivy League Player of the Year in 2000 after earning rookie of the year honors in 1996. Langel and Jordan were first team selections together in 2000. Jordan is 20th on the all-time scoring list in the Ivy League after scoring 1,604 points.

“Having known Michael as a teammate and friend for over 17 years, I am thrilled to have him, Katie, and their daughter Eva join our Colgate Basketball family,” said Langel. “Michael's experiences as a student-athlete, as well as a successful college and professional player will provide invaluable perspective that I know will help our current and future student-athletes. I am confident that his loyalty, dedication to hard work, and fierce competitive nature will make him a great college basketball coach.”

Jordan graduated from Penn in 2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in sociology.
