HAMILTON, N.Y. (4/28/12) – Former Colgate running back
Nate Eachus officially signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League on Saturday, April 28, following the NFL Draft.
Eachus, who was an FCS consensus first team All-American and Walter Payton Award finalist, finished his career with 4,485 yards rushing and 53 touchdowns, both rank third all-time at Colgate.
Eachus had 317 carries for 1,871 yards and 21 touchdowns during the 2010 season and was named to the Sports Network/Fathead.com, AFCA, Walter Camp and AP All-American first teams. He was also the CFPA Elite Running Back of the Year and the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year.
Eachus earned Patriot League first team honors three times (2008-10) and set the League record for most rushing yards in a game with 291 against Cornell.
Eachus is the second Colgate running back to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs behind the 1987 Walter Payton Award winner and College Football Hall of Fame member Kenny Gamble '88.
