LORETTO, Pa. – Pat Moore poured in 25 points as Colgate opened and closed the second half with impressive runs to spark the team's first road victory of the season, 85-76 over St. Francis (Pa.).

The Raiders (3-3) trailed by one point, 37-36, at halftime but turned the tables on the host Red Flash by sinking three straight 3-pointers in the first 70 seconds after the break. Murphy Burnatowski struck first just 20 seconds in, and then Moore connected on two of his seven 3-pointers in the game to put the Raiders on top by eight at 45-37. Moore finished seven of eight from long distance while Burnatowski grabbed his second double double of the season, 12 points and 10 rebounds.

After halftime Colgate didn't trail again, but St. Francis came back to the game at 68-68 and 72-72 before the Raiders broke loose again. Moore scored five of Colgate's final 13 points and got help from Burnatowski, Brandon James (10 points), and Damon Sherman-Newsome (12 points) down the stretch.

St. Francis (Pa.) saw Umar Shannon grab 24 points to lead the team. Stephon Mosley, Dominique Major and Ronnie Drinnon were all in double digits in scoring. Drinnon led the Red Flash on the boards with five rebounds.

“It was great to get our first road win,” head coach Matt Langel said. “We shot the ball extremely well, especially Pat, but I was most proud of our guys for finding the open man and taking what the defense gave them.”

In a back and forth first half, both teams were knocking down 3-pointers, keeping the score close. Major hit two 3-pointers in a row to take back the lead for St. Francis at 32-29 with less than four minutes to play.

As the time ticked off the clock Sherman-Newsome drove the ball to the hoop to pull within one with only 30 seconds left before half. He followed that up with a big block on the defensive end to send the Raiders into halftime only trailing by one, 36-37.

After leading by as much as 11 in the second half, St. Francis slowly started to chip away at the deficit. But each time the Red Flash started to come back the Raiders had the answer.

With 16 minutes to play in the game Luke Roh found Burnatowski on a fastbreak to make it 51-39. Clayton Graham then added two after he put one away off a bounce pass from Mitch Rolls.

In the last three minutes of play St. Francis tied the game. On the next possession Sherman-Newsome gave Colgate the three-point advantage after he drained one from behind the arc. Moore then sealed then win for the Raiders by nailing a 3-pointer with 45 seconds left to make it 80-74. Colgate earned its first road win and is now .500 on the season.

Next up for the Raiders is a short ride north to No. 6 Syracuse, who they face on Sunday. The game is set for 1 p.m. at the Carrier Dome.
