The Colgate women's basketball team will open Patriot League play on Saturday, Jan. 7 when it welcomes American to Cotterell Court. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and will be streamed live on Patriot League All-Access.

LAST TIME OUT
Jhazmine Lynch returned to the lineup and tied a team-high with eight points with Kelly Reid but it wasn't enough as Colgate fell 83-32 at Syracuse Saturday (Dec. 31).

The Raiders shot 13 of 60 (21.7 percent) from the field and went just 2-of-22 on 3-pointers. The Orange dominated the glass 58-31 and finished shooting almost 43 percent (30 of 70) from the field. Syracuse jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back en route to a 40-14 advantage at halftime.

SCOUTING AMERICAN (8-6)
American wrapped up its non-Patriot League slate with a 60-49 loss at George Washington Monday afternoon.

Sarah Kiely and T'Asia McGeorge each scored 14 points to lead the Eagles, who fell behind 26-15 at halftime after shooting just 6-of-24 (25 percent) in the first half. McGeorge sank a 3-pointer and Strack had a layup to cut the Colonials' lead to 37-33 with 12:38 left. But George Washington used a 15-2 run to take a 60-43 lead and secure the win.

THE SERIES AGAINST AMERICAN
This will be the 26th meeting between Colgate and American, with the Eagles leading the all-time series 19-6. American has won the last 10 meetings including a 69-49 win last season in Hamilton. Colgate's last win in the series came during the 2006-07 season, when the Raiders won on their home court 66-53.

WELCOME TO MY BLOCK PARTY
Senior forward Kelly Korkowski is moving up the Colgate women's basketball record books. Korkowski is currently ranked seventh in Colgate history with 70 career blocks. With five more blocks she will move into a tie for sixth with Suzanne Bowen with 75. Senior Tricia Oakes is also moving up as she currently sits eighth all-time with 65.

FOLLOW MY REID
Kelly Reid is only a freshman, but she has made an immediate impact for the Raiders this season. Reid is tied for second on the team in rebounding with 5.1 per game, which places her 14th in the Patriot League and second among freshman. Reid pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds against Canisius.

KEEPING UP WITH JONES
Freshman Mariah Jones is second on the team in scoring with 9.4 points per game, which also ranks second in the Patriot League among rookies.  Jones also ranks first among rookies in three-point field goal percentage and seventh overall making 33.9 percent from downtown.

THREE FOR ALL
Senior Candice Green has made 84 career three pointers, which places her seventh all-time in the Colgate record books. Green is just 16 shy of becoming the seventh Raider to make 100 or more three-pointers in a career.

A LITTLE ASSISTANCE
Candice Green is also moving up the record books in assists with 221. She is just 45 helpers behind Megan Ballard for 10th all-time at Colgate. Green is currently averaging 3.5 assists per game this season, which ranks third in the Patriot League.

FRESH FIVE
The Raiders welcome five freshmen to this year's squad and through the first 15 games of the season they have contributed 33.7 percent of the Raiders scoring. Guards Mariah Jones and Missy Repoli have combined for 184 points, while forwards Kelly Reid and Carole Harris, along with center Steph Schultz have scored 101.

SHOOT WITH THE RAIDERS
The Colgate University men's and women's basketball teams are inviting fans and friends to join them for the seventh annual “Shoot With The Raiders” event on Sunday, January 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Cotterell Court in the Reid Athletic Center.

The event, which is open to the public, will give fans the opportunity to meet and get autographs from their favorite players and coaches. There will also be a series of skill competitions and drills for participants which include shooting, basketball relay races, and more to name a few. Admission for the event is free.

UP NEXT
Colgate will host Bucknell on Wednesday, Jan. 11. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Cotterell Court and will be streamed live on Patriot League All-Access.
